Many people ask us if sewer jetting is better than a drain snake. The short answer is YES. The long answer follows:
♦ Snakes cut through gunk (professional term) and “snake” a pathway through the drain. A snake “corkscrews” through the blockage. A sewer jet, however, uses high-pressure water (up to 4,000 PSI) to clear and thoroughly clean your sewer lines, flushing out debris and buildup.
♦ Snakes offer interchangeable heads—typically several options depending on the blockage. However, their effectiveness is still limited compared to full-line cleaning systems.
♦ Our sewer jet system includes up to 500 feet of hose, while drain snakes typically have a maximum reach of about 100 feet. In many cases, that limited range may not be enough to reach the main sewer line or street connection.
♦ A hydro jet can both push and pull debris depending on the situation, while snakes primarily pull material back through the line. In some cases, pulling debris back into the home is not ideal. Sewer clogs are often messy and can produce strong odors.
